I'm separated and in process of divorce. I have one grown son, who lives separately in DC, has several fascinating jobs, and is a true intellectual -- majored in Classics. An all-round great kid, who can discourse on just about anything -- the more esoteric the better. I am an exceedingly proud dad. I have lived in several places abroad, and have traveled extensively: Europe, Russia, China, Middle East. I have studied a number of foreign languages: German, Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, French, and Dutch. (German and Hebrew are my most fluent.) I love studying new languages -- and improving my existing ones, including English. I have a very European outlook on the world. I am first-generation American. My parents were from Germany -- refugees from Hitler. I feel very comfortable and at home in Europe. I could easily live in Europe -- at least part-year. I would always need to keep a base in the USA. As often as I've been to Europe, there are still so many places I haven't seen, especially Eastern Europe. One idea I'd love to try is a river cruise, down the major waterways of the world: the Rhine/Danube, Volga, Yangtze I am not "rich", but financially comfortable and secure, with a good US government pension, health benefits for life, an income property in Georgetown, investments. I am passionate about many things, practically all things, really. My special outdoor passion is sailing. I’ve done a lot, in interesting parts of the world: Northern Europe, Turkey. I am proficient in the basics, but need training in the technical aspects (electrical and engine systems, electronics, meteorology, etc.) -- before I take the plunge to buy my own boat (and perhaps sail it across the Atlantic, a dream I have toyed with for years.) Most people consider me an intellectual. I am interested in virtually everything (professional sports excepted.) I cannot recall the last time I was bored. I have studied many things, spent many years in college, graduate school, then law school. I am passionate also about music--from Bach to the Stones. I was a flower child of the 60’s. At heart I have never changed. I consider myself gregarious and enjoy meeting new people. I feel entirely comfortable entering a room of 500 people and finding someone to talk to. I am an animal lover and a supporter of animal rights. I am a quasi-vegetarian -- I do eat fish/seafood, but no warm-blooded animals. I try to find humor wherever I can, and where I can't find it, I inject it. It follows that I appreciate a keen sense of humor in others. I am looking for someone with whom to spend time and -- perhaps -- life. I do not enjoy living alone. |
